1948 Singer Featherweight--Rita

Got this machine off Craigslist late summer 2017.  It was pretty rough, but sewed really nice.  I refinished this machine to a silver flake paint job and machined a new hook drive shaft.  The original shaft had been damaged on the end that holds the hook. Probably got frozen in place by a thread jam and the person that removed the hook didn't realize there were two grub screws holding it in position.  You could see the pry marks near the hook to get it removed.  The hook had a slight wobble when I got it, even though it sewed nice.  I almost left it, but it was an easy fix, 8" of .250" drill rod and a mini-mill to machine the flats.
I did a tutorial on the refinishing process.
